Today I am excited to be sharing all the pretty details from Hannah and Steve's ultra romantic Houdini Estate wedding in Los Angeles, CA. Working with Hannah and Steve was an absolute dream and I wish I could go back and re-live this gorgeous day!
When it came to designing their wedding, Hannah and Steve wanted something very romantic and a little bit unique. Since they chose to tie the knot at the Houdini Estate, they wanted the day to be filled with unexpected and unique details that meshed well with the property. After all, there is nothing 'normal' about Houdini! :)
Not only did we have to keep the venue in mind when crafting the day, but we also had to design around Hannah's spectacular gown! Hannah chose a gorgeous gown which was covered in light pink flowers. She looked absolutely breathtaking in it, and we had to be careful not to overpower her dress. Instead, we needed the entire day to compliment it.
THE CEREMONY
When it came to designing the ceremony, the goal was to keep it very romantic and not too bold. Because Hannah's dress was so unique with all the blush flowers, we didn't want to overpower it with too many bold colors at the ceremony. Instead, we wanted to compliment it and ensure it remained a focal point of the ceremony.
In order to do this, we kept the color scheme much lighter, with just a few subtle pops of color in order to tie in to the reception. Blooms Design House kept the bride's side of the arch VERY light and bright to compliment her dress, and then used darker colors for Steve's side. Once again, this was a great choice as it kept balance between the ceremony and reception.
COCKTAIL HOUR
Once the ceremony ended, guests moved up to the cobblestone drive way for cocktail hour. Here they were greeted with delicious appetizers, signature drinks and a strolling magician! They were also asked to grab a lemon drop shot to find their seats.
RECEPTION
While guests were enjoying a relaxing cocktail hour, we were busy behind the scenes flipping the ceremony site at the Houdini Estate to the reception space.
When it came to designing the reception space, we stayed true to Hannah's moody vision! We alternated ivory and blush velvet linens on all guest's tables, and accented them with pops of deep maroon. We then chose a deep maroon linen for the head table and brought in a black dance floor to perfectly accent the moody aesthetic.
Hannah and Steve also wanted to be sure the day was full of fun, and brought in acrobats to perform during dinner. This was such a blast for guests and served as the perfect addition to their wedding at the Houdini Estate!
